Free Trees For Perth Drivers On National Tree Day July 31st 2011

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 06, 2011 – FREE TREES FOR PERTH DRIVERS ON NATIONAL TREE DAY

Perth drivers can help save our waterways, marine wildlife and the planet in just ten short minutes.

Cars We Wash is supporting National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day by giving away Australian native trees and shrubs to their customers on Friday 29 July to Sunday 31 July 2011.

National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day combine to make Australia's biggest com android application munity tree-planting event.  Co-ordinated by Planet Ark, it's a chance for everyone to get t automobile news heir hands dirty, beautify their school and neighbourhood and help the planet at the same time.

All customers that visit the Cars We Wash car wash on Wanneroo Road in Balcatta will receive a hardy, waterwise tree or shrub that will encourage native birds into the garden and help to combat climate change by locking up carbon in its growing tissue.

"This is our second year of giving away Australian native plants for National Tree Day.  We do it to encourage others who have a passion for the environment to get involved in the community events that are being coordinated by Planet Ark on the last weekend in July," says Cars We Wash spokesperson and horticulturalist Mark Tucek.

"Cars We Wash is committed to protecting the environment in our day to day running of the business," says first drive audi a6 Tucek.  "We recycle up to 90% of the water used for each car and only use biodegradable detergents.  Large filtration systems filter our water so that we only need to use a small amount of fresh water for each car washed.  Using a commercial carwash is far more environmentally friendly than washing the car at home on the front driveway."

Apart from wasting valuable water, the simple chore of washing the car can also have a serious impact on our waterways and marine wildlife.  Extensive research has determined that the equivalent of 3000 to 4000 Olympic-sized swimming pools of toxic waste and sludge is being directed into our stormwater systems across Austra Infiniti m hybird lia as a result of vehicle washing on hard surfaces.

This toxic waste contains harmful detergents and soaps, dangerous heavy metals such as copper, zinc and lead as well as petroleum, grease and diesel which can cause algal blooms in our rivers, destroys our wetlands and seriously impacts on sea grass and marine wildlife.

In contrast, waste water that is captured at a commercial car wash requires EPA 531276856  Waste treatment, oil separation and proper sewage treatment.  The heavy metals and pollution never gets the chance to reach wetlands, rivers and oceans.

"We invite anyone with a dirty car to visit us on the last weekend in July to have their car washed in our green car wash and to receive a free Australian native tree to take home and plant.  It's a win-win!" says Tucek.
